Amahi File Sharing Issues

Friday 06 of April, 2012

I run Amahi and use the samba file sharing feature to feed data to my WDTV Live. It works great - until this week. We couldn't get to any of the shares. I found a number of issues.

greyhole error
Can't find a vfs module [greyhole]

This was caused by an install problem with greyhole. The link to the greyhole library was missing from /usr/lib/samba/vfs. The fix was reinstalling greyhole. I run an un-official install from greyhole and used this to fix it:

rpm -Uvh --force http://www.greyhole.net/releases/rpm/i386/hda-greyhole-0.9.9-1.`uname -i`.rpm

Next a saw two issues with samba in /var/log/messages. They may have been related:

smbd_open_once_socket: open_socket_in: Address already in use

current master browser = UNKNOWN

The fix for this was to disable ipv6 by running:

sysctl net.ipv6.bindv6only=1

I also added this to rc.local so it takes effect at boot time.
